Description

The "Intranet del Estado" is a Government Network that links in a high speed data network all the Ministries and Public Services in the Metropolitan Region of Chile.

Project History

With the purpose of modernizing the management of the public services who conform the public administration, the Government of Chile, by Supreme Decree N° 5996, of the Ministry of Interior in Sep 24, 1999, created a Network of Connectivity and Communications (Intranet del Estado).

The referred Supreme Decree entrusted to the Ministry of Interior the construction and operation of such Network and also the accomplishment of all the necessary actions for its coordination, administration and supervision.

The project of the "Intranet del Estado" has connected all Ministries and Public Services of the civic district in a data network of high speed, with fiber optics and technology based on Ethernet Gigabit with bandwidth very superior to any other existing network to the date in the public sector.

The objective of this network is to be the data exchange platform of multiple types of information, allowing to connect data bases of any public service, enabling each public institution to offer to Chilean citizens more services, using the new technologies of information with the greater bandwidth and in a scheme of high availability.
